FEEDING INSTRUCTIONS
Keep food frozen and thaw in refrigerator until ready to use.
Raw food must be used within 3 days after thawing. Return unused food back to the refrigerator after serving. Serve in stainless steel or ceramic dishes. Wash all work surfaces, utensils, serving spoons and hands with hot water & soap after handling raw meat & poultry.
0-2 months: feed 10% of body weight
3-5 months: feed 7% of body weight
6-9 months: feed 4% of body weight
10-12 months: feed 2-3% of body weight
% of puppies weight changes but the total amount of food should stay the same, for example :
Expected Adult Weight 50 lb = 1 lb of food
2 months 10 – 10% = 1 lb food
6 months 25 lb – 4% = 1 lb food
We recommend feeding 3 meals daily until 6 months of age because they are growing rapidly and need a more constant supply of calories than a full-grown dog. If your puppy seems to be excessively hungry at mealtime and a little on the lean side, the best thing to do is to feed a little more. If you are noticing an increase in body condition score, or an excessively pudgy puppy, reduce a little. Obesity in a puppy is just as harmful as malnutrition.
Transition Instructions:
For puppies, it’s best to start with a gradual transition. Slowing start adding raw food to their current meal over the course of 7 days.
Day 1-2 : 25% raw, 75% kibble
Day 3-4 : 50% raw, 50% kibble
Day 5-6 : 75% raw, 25% kibble
Day 7: 100% raw
Serve first raw meal at room temperature. Food that is icy cold from the refrigerator could cause your pet to vomit. Waiting for food to warm also enhances the food aromas. Do not leave food out for more than 20 minutes. For fussy eaters enhance food aromas by lightly searing the food in a pan. This can encourage even the fussiest of eaters.
